Imation Defender Collection Device Controls are portable and easy-to-use encryption and management applications that can be loaded on virtually any removable data storage device, such as a USB flash drive, removable hard drive or recordable optical media. Additional data and device protection features and options include virus and malware detection, file compression and file concealment for added privacy.
Device controls are available for installation on existing drives, or bundled with Imation drives and media. They are required on devices and media for integration with Defender Collection Control Client and Defender Collection Control Server. Together, these applications provide portable encryption capabilities on otherwise unprotected removable storage devices.

- In-network, out-of-network and offline usage policy enforcement with administrator specified reauthorization intervals
- Temporary or permanent disabling of lost or stolen drives to prevent information access; optional remote destruction of device contents
- Device control and blocking through whitelisting and blacklisting to enforce organizational policies
- Blocking by file name or type to reduce the risks of data leaks and virus or malware propagation
- Automatic and transparent device encryption and decryption
