We ensure that your systems know it’s really you. A recent study revealed that in any given year close to half of all employees will lose a data-bearing device such as a USB drive, hard drive, laptop or mobile communications device. Strong user authentication is the best way to prevent access to the data on these stolen and lost devices.
MULTIFACTOR AUTHENTICATION
Imation's mobile security offerings deliver the strongest authentication technology in the industry to give you the best front-line security. Our portable secure flash drives and hard drives are capable of multifactor authentication (password, biometric and CAC/PIV) ― all within the secure hardware environment of the device ― to validate digital identity and protect on-board data.
Multifactor authentication involves using combinations of:
- What You Know ― such as passwords and PINs
- What You Have ― such as a smart card, token or corporate badge
- What You Are ― such as a biometric identifier (face, fingerprint, voice, retina scan)
Multifactor authentication is more secure because the effect of combining the factors creates a much stronger authentication than any factor on its own. Even a compromised password isn’t enough to break in when multifactor authentication is employed.
FOILING SOFTWARE ATTACKS
Since authentication is done completely within the IMS device, it is immune from software-based compromise at the host level.
AUTOMATIC LOCKDOWN
Imation devices are capable of automatic lockdown if too many authentications fail, adding a significant level of security to protect our clients’ encrypted information. Optionally, data can be destroyed under these circumstances if the highest level of security is required.
Full-Disk Encryption (FDE), firewalls and other security technologies, while sensible, are not enough to ensure that your information is secure. If the authentication to access the data is weak then the security architecture, policies and procedures ― and even strength of encryption — are irrelevant.
