Fred Moore, Founder and President, Horison Information Strategies and internationally sought-after motivator and speaker will kick off the 2008 Imation EUC Symposium with a presentation on "The State of the Storage Industry." Mr. Moore began his 21-year career at StorageTek as the first systems engineer and concluded as corporate vice president of Strategic Marketing. He is the 1989 recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award and the 2004 recipient of the Arts and Science Scholar-in-Residence Award at the University of Missouri, where he received a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a master's degree in computer applications in physical geography. Mr. Moore completed the Berkeley Executive Program in 1997.
Bill Peldzus, Vice President of Data Services, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery for GlassHouse Technologies, will provide invaluable insight into disaster recovery strategies in his presentation on "Disaster Recovery: It's All About the Data." In his position at Glass House Technologies, Mr. Peldzus is responsible for the strategy and development of DC, BC & DR services, supporting sales and overseeing customer engagements. Mr. Peldzus brings over 20 year of experience working in technical positions at Imation's Storage Professional Services and StorageTek's SAN Operations business group, as well as running multiple IT groups at CNA Insurance and Northern Trust Company.
Henry Newman, Chief Technology Officer at Instrumental Inc., will provide insight into "Why Tape Will Continue as Backup/Archive Medium." Mr. Newman has worked in the IT industry for more than 23 years at Instrumental Inc. and Cray Research, providing expertise in systems architecture and performance analysis to customers in government, scientific research and industry around the world. Mr. Newman has been author of a column for Jupitermedia's online EnterpriseStorageForum since 2002, and has been a columnist for SysAdmin Magazine, Server/Workstation Expert and DevChannel.Org.
Chet Jacobs, Senior Technology Consultant in the StorageWorks Division of Hewlett-Packard, will give a presentation on "The Next Generation Data Center." Mr. Jacobs has been with Hewlett-Packard for the past 19 years, and an active participant in the computer storage industry for more than 40 years. As an employee of the StorageWorks Group, Mr. Jacobs participated in the development of DLT, as well as many other HP technological developments. A well-known speaker, Mr. Jacobs delivers a wide variety of storage presentations at industry standard forums worldwide.
Dan Ledgerwood, an end user with the Royal Bank of Canada, will give a presentation on the Royal Bank of Canada's testing and implementation of the new 9840D technology and corresponding tape retirement strategy.
