CD-RW burning requirements
Do you have a CD-RW drive with the "High-Speed" logo on it?
If you don't, you don't have the ability to use high-speed CD-RW media
(such as Imation's 4-10x CD-RW Media) — even if your burner has
a 4X speed for CD-RW burning.
You can figure out your burner's CD-RW burning speed ability by looking at the speed numbers. The middle number (like in 4x4x6) tells you the CD-RW burn speed. The first number is the CD-R burn speed, and the last is the read speed for any already-recorded CD.
Just having the
4X in the middle isn't enough, though. Generally speaking, to use a
high-speed disc, a burner needs to have at least an 8X capacity
for CD-RW burning. Since high-speed CD-RW discs require a high-speed
burner, it's best to be sure about your burner's abilities before buying
media.
If you
aren't
sure your drive can keep up with a high-speed disc, check your user
guide or with the manufacturer.
