USB
2.0: Speedy Plug & Play Standard
Got USB 2.0 yet?
This new standard takes the plug-and-play convenience of the original
USB 1.1 standard and 'super-sizes' the data transfer rate.
How fast is USB 2.0? Under this standard, devices can achieve a maximum
data transfer rate between PC and device of up to 60MB per second — that's
40 times faster than USB 1.1. That's transferring a full-length CD in
12 seconds! The main limiting factor on a USB 2.0 device's speed is the
data being transferred — not all devices or memory cards can support
the blazing speed of USB 2.0.
Another good thing about USB 2.0 is its backwards compatibility with
USB 1.1. So if your computer doesn't have USB 2.0, not to worry — you
can still plug a USB 2.0 device in, and it will work (just a bit slower!).
Look for USB 2.0 in the new Imation USB 2.0 Flash Drive.
