Performance Evaluation


What is a Performance Evaluation?

Performance evaluations are a service of Imation's Technical Services Team to analyze root causes of user-reported media errors. Since many reported errors can be attributed to factors other than a manufacturing defect, our performance analysis helps our customers identify underlying causes of errors. Resolving underlying issues can result in improved tape, drive, and system performance.

Please note: most Imation tapes are not eligible for evaluation or warranty replacement if they have been degaussed, as degaussing affects our ability to verify a product failure. To find out whether your degaussed tape is eligible for evaluation or replacement, please contact our CARE Center at Imation Info.

You MUST contact Imation's CARE Center prior to sending us any product returns!

Packages sent to us without a Product Evaluation Request (PER) number will be returned. Once you have contacted Imation's CARE Center and have a PER number, send us the suspect media for evaluation.

Once I have a PER number, what do I do next?

Following proper packaging and handling guidelines can ensure your media arrives in good shape for accurate evaluation. The Imation Pack & Return Video (Windows Media, 2.9MB) video demonstrates the proper way to pack your tapes for return to Imation. To view it, you will need the Windows Media Player (version 7.0 or higher), available for download at www.windowsmedia.com.
