How do I install an Imation SuperDisk Drive driver update?

First, be sure to uninstall any old drivers before installing a new one. Then from the SuperDisk Drivers page, simply choose the correct product and click on Download Now. The README text file included with the download will contain detailed installation instructions.

Do Windows 2000, ME, and XP support Imation SuperDisk Internal & USB Drives?

Yes, Windows 2000, ME, and XP supply all the drivers needed for the Imation Internal & USB SuperDisk Drives, with one known exception.

The driver for the 1x Internal IDE SuperDisk Drives is no longer supported by Microsoft; therefore the 1x SuperDisk Drive is not compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP. There are no additional drivers available for this drive. They are still able to read 1.4MB floppy disks, but not the SuperDisk diskettes.

My floppy disk drive will not read my Imation SuperDisk Diskettes.

Drive incompatibility is the most common reason for SuperDisk failure. You do need to have a SuperDisk or LS120 compatible diskette drive to use Imation SuperDisk Diskettes. Standard disk drives are unable to use the SuperDisk technology, as it requires a laser beam for proper tracking. For help determining what kind of drive you have, please contact your drive manufacturer. If you do not have an LS-120 or SuperDisk drive, Imation SuperDisk Diskettes are not compatible with your equipment.

Can I use my Imation SuperDisk Drive with Mac OS X?

The Imation USB SuperDisk Drive can work with Macintosh Operating System (OS) X. No software is needed for the Imation USB SuperDisk Drive, as OS X provides native support.

We have found that the drive works on some computers, and not on others. (Our testing shows it working on Tiger, but that is without added applications that might cause a conflict.) Apple wrote the drivers, and the drive was discontinued prior to the publication of OS X; so regretfully we are limited in the scope of answers we can provide.

Floppy diskettes work in my Imation SuperDisk Drive, but Imation SuperDisk Diskettes do not.

There are two read/write heads with laser tracking in a SuperDisk Drive, one for SuperDisk Diskettes and one for 3.5" diskettes. If the laser tracking goes out of alignment, you will no longer be able to use SuperDisk Diskettes in your drive. But laser tracking will not impact the drive's ability to read/write floppy diskettes.

I have a USB Imation SuperDisk Drive. Will it work with Windows XP?

The USB Imation SuperDisk Drive is plug and play on Windows ME, 2000, and XP. There are no downloads or drivers needed.
