First connect the black USB plug to a USB port on your system then attach the cartridge to the Adapter. If you insert the USB plug when a cartridge is already attached there is a chance the system will not recognize the cartridge.
The gray USB plug can be used if your PC USB ports do not supply enough power to the Adapter. If the gray plug is needed, plug both the black and gray USB plugs into your PC first and then attach the cartridge to the Adapter.
Microsoft Windows: It is always best to issue the "Safe Removal" command before removing the cartridge from the Adapter or before disconnecting the Adapter USB plug from the Computer if a cartridge is still attached.
MAC: Before removing the cartridge from the Adapter or before disconnecting the Adapter USB plug from the Computer if a cartridge is still attached drag the disk icon for the Odyssey Cartridge to the Trash.
To remove the Odyssey cartridge from the Mobile USB Adapter, hold the Adapter on the sides (gray stripes) with one hand then pull the cartridge out with your other hand. Do not press down on the Odyssey logo area of the Adapter, doing so makes it difficult to remove the cartridge.
No, you must first move the write-protect switch on the cartridge to the unlocked position before attaching the cartridge to the Adapter. The write protect feature will still work in Odyssey docking stations.
Yes.
If you are using a Windows PC you might need to open the Device Manager and "Scan for Hardware Changes". If this does not work you may need an external power supply (see Q9).
If the blue light never flashes when the cartridge is attached to the Adapter or if you do not feel the vibration from the HDD disks rotating inside the cartridge this might indicate that there is insufficient power being supplied to the cartridge. If this is the case you need to plug in the second USB plug (see Q2) or you may need an external power supply (see Q9).
This is an auxiliary power connector. If you do not have two adjacent USB plugs available on your PC and one plug does not provide enough power for the adapter to work we recommend using the auxiliary power connector. The following power supply can be ordered if you need that capability:

Digi-Key Part Number: T946-P5P-ND
- Specifications: (INPUT: 90 - 264VAC OUTPUT: 5VDC @ 1.2A PLUG: ID=2.1mm, OD=5.5mm, L=9.5mm. Tip=positive)
