Return Authorization


How to Obtain an Imation Return Material Authorization

Please use the following process to obtain an Imation Return Material Authorization (RMA) before returning any product to Imation.
  • Contact our CARE Center at Imation Info. The Imation CARE Center will only process warranty return requests for defective Imation brand product. No returns of any type will be accepted without an RMA number issued by the Imation CARE Center. Not all warranted products are eligible for return; our CARE Center will evaluate your specific situation.
  • For customers outside of the US, contact the Imation office closest to you.
    • Please have the following information available when requesting a RMA number:
    • Company name (if applicable)
    • Contact name and phone number
    • Date of purchase
    • Original invoice number, sales receipt or purchase order
    • Imation part number or product description
    • Quantity to be returned
    • Reason for return
    • Item serial number (if applicable)
  • If we determine that a technical resolution is not possible, the Imation CARE Center will then issue a RMA number to be used as a means of identifying the product returned. RMA authorizations and numbers are valid for thirty (30) days from the time the RMA is issued, and void thereafter.
  • The return address and shipping instructions will be provided by the Imation CARE Center.
  • All returned products must be accompanied by: (i) the original shipping and packing materials, and (ii) proof of the place and date of purchase. The RMA number must be clearly printed on packing slip and on the exterior-shipping container. All products must be sent in secure packaging to avoid any shipping damages.
  • Imation reserves the right to refuse and return, freight collect: (i) products that are not covered by Imation's warranty; (ii) products for which no trouble is detected; (iii) an unauthorized return; (iv) products improperly protected and damaged during return shipment to Imation; or (v) products delivered to Imation with an expired RMA.
  • Imation will attempt to service authorized returns within 30 business days of receipt.





How Imation Handles Unauthorized Returns

Imation will not accept any package returned to Imation headquarters or any Imation manufacturing facility that does not have an approved RMA number.
